Stoke duo Robert Huth and Matthew Etherington will face potentially heart-breaking fitness tests at Wembley ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final clash with Manchester City.

Huth suffered a knock to his knee at Stoke’s game victory over Arsenal last weekend, while Etherington has been recovering from a torn hamstring he sustained two weeks ago.

The pair could be obliged to sit out their team’s first FA Cup final in almost a century and a half.

“It’ll be a last-minute call for both of them, we will test them out just before the game,” said manager Tony Pulis.

“The two of them are desperate to play and I will speak to them and the physio. What I have to do is make sure my decision is right for the team.”

Huth underwent surgery this week in an attempt to recover for the big game, while Etherington has only just returned to light training.
