Mogadishu — Shaky calm reportedly has returned Friday in Mogadishu after one day of heavy clashes between Somali forces backed by African Union peacekeepers and Al shabaab fighters.
Residents in Hodan and Howlwadag where most of Thursday’s battle occurred said they felt a state of unreliable clam though sporadic gunfire could sometimes be heard in the battle zones.
Yesterday’s Mogadishu clashes claimed the lives of more than 10 people and wounded scores more.
Health officials at Mogadishu’s Madina hospital said they received more than 30 people with heavy and light injures in their bodies.
Al shabaab and Somali government have each claimed victory over the deadly confrontations.
