Creative midfielder Morgan Amalfitano has caught the attention of Arsenal with his impressive performances for Ligue 1 side Lorient in the past couple of months, Canal Plus reports.

Arsene Wenger is keen to add some more depth to his squad in the summer transfer window, and the Frenchman reportedly sees the 26-year-old as a useful addition.

Amalfitano joined Lorient from Sedan in the summer of 2008 and has since made close to 100 appearances for the French outfit.

The midfielder has an expiring contract, however, and is keen to move to a bigger club.

“I have not made a decision yet, but the time has come to look elsewhere,” he told Foot01.

“I am 26 now and I am ready to move abroad. If a big French club want me, I am open to it, but otherwise I will probably move abroad.”

Arsenal face stiff competition from clubs such as Sevilla, Juventus and Aston Villa in the race for Amalfitano’s services.
