Luanda — Angola Espirito Santo Bank (Besa) is due to present on Friday at the United Nations, in New York, the sustainability project in Angola, promoted in partnership with the Earth Planet Institute.
The presentation of the project happens during the 19th Session of the United Nations Sustainable Development Commission.
The arrival of a Besa delegation in New York will also be used to present its experience and inspire other countries to develop the same model, in its capacity of founding member of the Earth Planet Institute.
The presentation of the project will be in charge of Besa Marketing and Communication director, Leonor Sá Machado, who will announce the standing of the institution and boost the needs for social responsibility strategies of the companies so that they have a greater
involvement with the community and with its development needs.
According to Leonor Sá Machado, while speaking on Thursday to Angop, Besa has been developing an active strategy for promotion of sustainable development of Angola, through investing in a model of contribution to local and international non-government institutions,
supporting their projects and the definition of solutions for a more sustainable future for the country,
“The private investment is essential to support the work of the organisations that promote sustainable development, in order to create synergies for the drafting of local and global strategies”, said the official.
Angola and the African continent in general, she said, has recorded a speedy growth in the past years, that is why Besa has defined since the beginning a policy for social and environmental responsibility, promoting and supporting environmental, social and cultural projects.
“I hope our experience can be used as inspiration for other entities and other countries so that they meet the needs for sustainable development of the communities, guaranteeing that the economic progress is followed up by social support measures and environmental preservation that protect the future generations”, added Leonor Sá Machado.
