An hour after Dr Kizza Besigye landed; Daily Monitor reporters at the airport report that anti-riot police presence at the VIP entrance is very visible.
And at Kitubuli trading centre, along the roadsides, scores have started running battles with the police which is chasing them off the roadsides asking them to return home.
In Kampala, the Kibuye roundabout-Clock Tower area is teeming with a huge crowd of people waiting to receive the FDC leader who has been receiving treatment in Nairobi for multiple injuries inflicted upon him by police and soldiers who attacked him on April 28 during the walk-to-work protests against high fuel prices and the rising cost of living.
Dr Besigye is meeting his officials in the VIP lounge. Gen Mugisha Muntu, MPs Abdu Katuntu, Alice Alaaso, Jack Mamai, Wafula Ogutu and Beatrice Aywar have been allowed to meet with him in the VIP lounge.
Other party officials in the lounge are Joyce Ssebugwawo, Angoliga Salim, and Sarah Eperu. Others including the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago have been blocked from Kitubulu trading centre.
The AIGP Asan Kasingye also selected only five journalists from NTV, New Vision, Radio One, Red Pepper and NBS to cover the inside proceedings, blocking out Daily Monitor reporters.
And at 10:18 Dr Besigye emerges from the VIP lounge ready to leave the airport after failing to secure permission from the police to address a press conference at the airport.
