Freetown — Ports Authority coach, Christian Cole has vowed to end Kamboi Eagles’ unbeaten run in the Sierra Leone Premier League as his Water Front side clash with the league leaders in the eastern headquarter town of Kenema on Friday.
Coach Cole said he is convinced his team can walk away with all three points in Kenema and bring to an end the unbeaten run of the Eagles in their own turf.
Ports Authority are second in the league table and three points adrift of the Eagles who have played more games.
Cole said: “Kamboi Eagles have got a good start in the league and have been consistent so far but it is possible they can lose at home to us because we want to stay at the top. I have faith in my squad, I believe we can go there and win. Why not? We know it will be difficult because they are playing well and are scoring goals. But we just need a good day and our players can beat any team and get to the top again.”
According to Cole, Kamboi Eagles’ lead has made the clash very interesting, noting that the result can determine who rules the table for the next two weeks.
On the other end, Kamboi Eagles’ coach Soccoh Arun Conteh said he is looking forward to the Ports Authority clash and hopes to send the final message that “this is our time to claim the league title”.
He said: “This is the match I’ve been looking forward to and I believe we can get a good result at home. It is not going to be an easy ride because we are fighting to consolidate our position at the top while they are fighting to dislodge us. All we need to do is focus on our game and put up a good performance that will earn us a good result.”
Ports Authority departs Freetown today (Thursday) for Kenema but will be without skipper and top goal scorer Muwahid Sesay, who is nursing an injury. But the team has been boosted with the return of lethal striker Morlai Sesay.
