Paris Saint-Germain to target Fulham’s Clint Dempsey if Qatari takeover is completed

Paris Saint-Germain will target Fulham‘s Clint Dempsey if they are purchased by a group led by Qatari investors, sources have confirmed to Goal.com.

The takeover group want the club to be a fixture in the Champions League and believe the American can be a valuable asset to the French side.

The group are also expected to look at several other players as they look to strengthen a squad that currently sits fourth in Ligue 1, only one point away from Lyon, who occupy the last Champions League qualification spot.

Fulham have also begun to look at possible replacements for the 28-year-old midfielder, with boss Mark Hughes making his interest in Espanyol’s Dani Osvaldo public. And if a move materialises for the Argentine forward, Moussa Dembele is likely to switch to the wing to cover for the loss of Dempsey.

“The boy Osvaldo’s been flagged up for a long time and I think everybody’s aware of him – he’s a good player,” Hughes confirmed last week. “But you wouldn’t expect me to say too much about him because he’s somebody else’s player.
