Luanda — The promotion of human rights, including civil, political, economic, social and cultural, requires a better equality among men and women, said Wednesday in Luanda the representative of United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA) in Angola, Kourtoum Nacro.
Addressing an opening ceremony of Extraordinary Meeting of ministers in charge of gender equality, Kourtoum Nacro said that, it is not possible to build the fairest and developed societies without the promotion of gender equality.
The event gathered, among others, the Angolan vice-President of Republic Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, the officials of the Angolan government, and members from the Portuguese-speaking Countries Community (CPLP).
UNFPA official called for the need to better define mechanisms leading to strategic and action plans on gender equality, expected to be approved at the forum, be implemented with clear goals.
The Extraordinary Meeting of ministers in charge of gender equality of CPLP is being chaired by the Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion , Genoveva Lino.
CPLP integrates Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tome and Principe and East Timor.
