Dr. Entsua-Mensah cutting the tape to open the fair
THE MINISTRY of Women and Children’s Affairs has developed a programme dubbed “Gender Responsive Skills and Community Project” (GPSCDP) to protect gender equality and enhance socio-economic development.
At the opening ceremony of the second International Women’s Fair (IWF) in Accra recently, the Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs, Juliana Azumah-Mensah stated that the ministry would also empower women through programmes and projects to eliminate the gender gap.
She noted that she was in support of the 2006 International Monetary Fund survey which concluded that “societies that increase women’s access to education, health care, employment and credit, and that narrow differences between women and men in economic opportunities, increase the pace of economic development and reduce poverty.”
According to Mrs. Azumah-Mensah, Africa was lagging behind in applying the concept of gender equity principally because it was strongly linked with the African traditional culture.
The second IWF, which was designed to create a global platform for women to interact on current issues confronting their development and empowerment was held at the National Theatre in Accra.
The fair under the theme “Working Woman’s Contribution to Development,” was expected to see the active participation of representatives of corporate bodies, non-governmental agencies and government institutions.
Stephen Yaw Asamoah, Event Manager for IWF, giving an overview of the event noted that about 50 exhibitors, investors and presidents of major corporate organizations from Ghana and the US will attend the fair.
He said the main aim of the fair hosted by the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs in collaboration with Creative Trends, aims at bringing the world closer to establishing and deepening collaborative solutions by both genders.
“Getting both sexes to uniquely identify their strengths by working together in unison and in complimentary roles is the best way to ensure the fastest development of every nation.”
Dr. Rose Emma Mamaa Entsua-Mensah, Deputy Director General Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in a keynote address noted there was no doubt that working women contributed tremendously to the development of Ghana.
She said about 65 percent of women contributed to the development of the country’s agriculture, trade and industry, lamenting that a lack of access to education, land and technical know how had always been a major challenge facing women.
Dr. Entsua-Mensah, lamented “the unfortunate incident of women not getting access to education to improve their skills as well as not getting access to credit among others needs a collaborative effort so as to improve the situation.”

Reports reaching NEWS-ONE say the sex drive among Ivorian male refugees in Ghana is so high that authorities are getting worried and have therefore arranged for 100,000 pieces of condoms to be given to them.
The reports suggest that at the Ampian refugee camp in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, hot sex in interesting positions has become the key source of entertainment and stress reducing mechanism.
The men are said to be very good in bed and swing their waists so well that the women find it difficult to turn down their sex proposals.
Several of the females have reportedly become pregnant and the fear is that the population at the camp would soon increase. Already, there have been some 40 births since March this year, though all the mothers were pregnant before getting to the camp. Four children were delivered just last Sunday night and many more are expected this week.
The 100,000 condoms would be distributed for free to the inmates and the cost is being funded by USAID, an international NGO, to help reduce the growing population at the camp, as it is getting out of hand for the camp managers.
The manager of the Ampain refugee camp, Mr. Forson, who confirmed the story, said the condoms distribution would go a long way to ensure the camp was not over populated, adding that the move was to also prevent HIV/AIDS and other STDs.
According to Mr. Forson, the condoms would be distributed among adolescents as well since most of them had strong sexual desires. He disclosed that health personnel would teach the refugees how to use the condoms, especially the female type.
He noted that the camp population hit 5,000 last week while the figure was half a couple of weeks ago.
“We are challenged as camp management because while our internal population is booming, more refugees are brought in everyday, making things difficult as a camp,” he explained.
Mr. Forson, who could not disclose the number of pregnant women currently, further appealed to individuals and organizations to come to their aid to enable them to run the camp because they were challenged materially.

Ebenezer Obeng narrating his ordeal to the press
ABOUT a week after giving Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Mayor of Accra, an ultimatum to quit his position, following what they described as his inability to deliver, traders in Accra are threatening to go to court.
The traders, who are members of the Market Women Association of Ghana (MAWAG) in the Greater Accra region, are lacing their boots to send the AMA Boss to court for the alleged demise of one of their colleagues who was recently brutalized by some city guards. They claimed the victim could not go to the hospital due to financial constraints.
According to the group, the Mayor, since his assumption into office, had taken the law into his hands, frustrating the lives of traders and maltreating them.
The group said such attacks impinged on the fundamental human rights of traders.
The anti-hawking stance of the AMA, according to the traders, had taken a different dimension.
“The city guards, who had been deployed to ensure that hawkers respected the directive, resorted to making amorous deals with the female traders. The female victims, who could not pay the bribes they demanded, have ended up being allegedly impregnated by the city guards.
“The Mayor must quit his post and give way for a more productive and efficient person,” said Fredrick Opoku, Media Relations Officer of MAWAG, at a press briefing in Accra yesterday.
The group claimed that Mr. Vanderpuije had failed and lost focus, particularly with regards to his promise before assuming office, to rid the city of filth.
In the past, it was possible to sell and save some money but presently, it is a different story.
Mr. Opoku described the activity as “grossly inhuman” as it led to the displacement of over 15,000 hawkers.
He therefore questioned why the assembly was only interested in chasing the hawkers out of the streets without finding any alternative business and market centres for them.
Charity Gyimah, a trader, told this paper that the claims by the assembly that it had provided spaces for hawkers within the various markets in the metropolis were sheer lies, explaining that the owners of the empty stalls demanded GH¢2,000 from the hawkers when they approached them.
“We are going to demonstrate till the Mayor steps aside because he is not credible and we cannot contain him anymore,” said Charity Gyimah.
Ebenezer Obeng, a hawker who was recently reported by the media to have had his ear chopped off by an AMA worker, was also present at the press conference and narrated his ordeal to the media.
He explained that the case was still in the hands of the police.
However, Mercy Nee Djan, President of the Greater Accra Market Association, in reaction to the demands of the association, maintained that there was no traders association called MAWAG.
She stressed that Opoku was only trying to use the name and his followers to champion his own cause.

Ghana Armed Forces
After three years, soldiers who forced a couple loitering around the Osu Castle to have sex at gunpoint have been found guilty.
The incident, which took place in 2008, became public after a widely circulated video of the incident caught the attention of the general public and human right activities who called for an investigation into the incident.
After weeks of investigations into the shameful incident, Joy News confirmed that the soldiers have been found guilty and have been sanctioned accordingly.
The Public Relations Officer of the Military High Command, Col. Mbawuni Atintande told Joy News Tuesday that, “these two Naval personnel have been identified… investigations went on and then as per our regulations, this is a very reprehensible act, we know that its an offence and we have to do something about it.”
Col. Atintande further disclosed that after identifying the officers involved, “they have been charged and tried.”
He however failed to reveal the type of punishment meted out to the officers but said, “Certainly they have been punished because of the act that they have done which we, the Armed Forces, think that it is reprehensible.”
He remarked that the issue must be dealt with clearly such that others would not repeat the same act.

Fatal Accident
SIX PEOPLE perished in a fatal accident at Aburasa near Komenda in the Komenda Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality in the Central Region yesterday when a Toyota Hiace with registration Number GN 2842 Z, carrying passengers from Accra to Takoradi, collided with an articulated truck with registration number GE 2230-10.
The vehicle was carrying cement from Takoradi, heading towards Cape Coast.
The dead were three females and three males. Four of the victims who were in very critical condition were sent to the Central Regional Hospital at Cape Coast. The accident occurred around 5:45pm.
According to an eyewitness, the Toyota Hiace was trying to overtake another car when it collided head-on with the truck and caught fire.
The fire service reported around 6:30pm to quench the fire.
At the time of filing the report at about 7pm, the police were not at the scene yet, even though they had earlier on been called as the bodies were lying idle. Residents of the area had to cover the accident victims with cloths.
The residents also had to direct traffic because the accident created a traffic jam.

BUSTED! Akwasi Kumah
AFTER THE discovery of the headless body of the 12-year-old boy who was beheaded for sakawa by Sumaila Yahaya, two persons have been arrested by the Kintampo police in connection with the murder.
The two men, Akwasi Kumah alias Mon Amie and Yaw Fosu, both unemployed, were arrested at Bompa, in the Atebubu-Amantin District where the decomposing headless body, identified as that of Kwame Amoah’s, was found.
Sumaila Yahaya, the prime suspect, told the police that the two helped him to kill the boy and beheaded him for ritual purposes in order to become rich overnight.
According to Yahaya, the three conspired to commit the crime in order to make juju money. All three suspects are in police custody at Kintampo while investigation continues.
In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, the Mallam who caused the arrest of the suspect, 45-year-old Musa Bamba, said he was in his house on that fateful day when the suspect came with a bag and told him that he wanted help.
He said as usual, he entered his room with the boy and asked him what he wanted.
According to Mallam Bamba, Sumaila Yahaya told him that he had brought him what people used to make money.
He said he asked him to open the bag for him to see what was in and when he opened the bag, he saw the severed head of a small boy.
Mallam Bamba told the Yahaya to wait for him while he went outside to call his master since he was not the one who performed such duties.
When Mallam Bamba went out, he closed the door, leaving the man inside while he ran to call the police who rushed there to arrest him.
Mallam Bamba told DAILY GUIDE that since he started his job as a spiritualist, he had never seen such a horrific incident. He appealed to the youth to work for money through genuine ways rather than getting themselves involved in Sakawa or any dubious means.
He said that as a man of God endowed with spiritual powers, God would punish him if he encouraged ritual murder. He appealed to his fellow Mallams to rid society off such miscreants.

Politicians have been urged to give the security agencies the freedom to perform their statutory roles devoid of political interference.
The Upper East Regional Police Commander, assistant Commissioner of Police Bright Oduro, made the appeal during the 11th National Constitutional Week organised by the Upper East Regional Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Bolgatanga.
He said that political interference constituted a major stumbling block to the dispensation of democracy in Ghana and stated that almost on a daily basis, security agencies in the administration of justice receive calls interfering in their work.
“One of the biggest challenges confronting the Police and the investigative apparatus of the service is undue interference from all manner of persons especially from politicians who may want to dictate the affairs of an investigation to suit their own interests”, he said.
Mr Oduro cautioned security agencies to a exhibit high sense of professionalism in the execution of their duties and added that, “as Security agencies we must respect and protect the citizens’ right to life.”
Mr Peter Mensah, the Upper East Regional Director of NCCE, said the purpose of the Constitutional week was to draw the attention of the public to the significance of the constitution.
He said Ghana had chalked a lot of successes since the adoption of the constitution and this had made it gain recognition at the international level but there was still more to be done.
The security agencies who attended the constitutional week forum were drawn from the Police, Custom Excise and Preventive Services, Immigration Service and Fire Service.

The Chairman Nana Otutu Kono seated before the factions
THE CHIEF of Adukrom in the Akwapim North district, Nana Otutu Kono has told the Chiefs of Dawu and Abiriw to let the resurrection power of Jesus Christ unite them.
He further admonished them to work collectively at sustaining peace among their people and also in Okere and Akwapim as a whole.
The Chairman of the Dawu and Abiriw land dispute settlement committee said this when the committee resumed sitting after the Easter break at the Akwapim North District Assembly Hall, Akropong.
He reiterated that they had come far in the mediation process thereof it was time to demonstrate peace through their actions adding that the death of Christ was supposed to bring peace and love to all mankind.
The Chairman, Nana Otutu Kono then invited 72-year-old Opanyin Kwabena Obuobi, one of the three witnesses to testify in favour of Dawu.
According to Opanyin Obuobi, both the Chiefs of Dawu and Abiriw had presented a request to the Chief of Awukugua, Nana Asare Brempong asking him to accompany them on separate occasions to clear up their boundary lines with Awukugua.
Opanyin Obuobi continued that his selection to be part of the Awukugua delegation was because he had been farming along the said boundary areas and was thus familiar with the terrain and had experience in agriculture extension work in the same area.
He also stated that the former Chief of Awukugua, Nana Ansah had said that he shared boundaries with Dawu and Abiriw because they were his children.
The Chief of Abiriw, Nana Kwame Henaku and Gyasehene Gyebi then took turns to cross examine Opanyin Obuobi; they asked him if he knew the towns which shared boundaries with Awukugua and how Dawu and Abiriw became children of Nana Ansah, the former Chief of Awukugua, noting that Dawu performed annual rituals to Awukugua but Abiriw did not.
Opanyin Obuobi replied that he could not say much about the right of being sons to Nana Ansah but knows that in every home there are some children who are rebellious to authority. He stressed that Dawu shared boundaries with Awukugua.
In a reply to Gyasehene Gyebi, he said he could not peddle falsehood in such a case and that he was telling the truth.
The second witness, Asokwahene Yaw also reiterated all that Opanyin Obuobi had said.

The missing day-old baby
The Dansoman Police have said the day-old baby girl who was reported missing from the Baanor Clinic at Latebiokorshie in Accra has been found.
The baby girl was reported to have been stolen a day after her delivery at the clinic on April 24, 2011 in the afternoon.
Three nurses and a security man at the facility were arrested and later granted self-recognizance bail while investigations into the matter continued.
However, in the early hours of yesterday, a baby girl, suspected to be the missing baby, was found behind the Baanor Clinic.
The Dansoman Divisional Commander, ACP Paul Awini, said a joint team including a detective from his outfit, parents of the baby and officials from the hospital were at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to examine the baby to ascertain whether or not she was the missing child reported about two weeks ago.
The father of the baby, Sefa Kissi, had told DAILY GUIDE that his wife, after delivery, was not well so had to be hospitalized to enable doctors to monitor her condition.
At about 11am the next morning, an auntie of hers visited her at the hospital while mother and daughter were fast asleep.
Elizabeth Kisi, after she was woken up by her auntie Ama, asked her to buy some bananas for her.
Aunt Ama returned with the bananas only to find an empty baby’s court while Lizzy was fast asleep.
When she was quizzed about the baby’s disappearance, she was unable to tell the baby’s whereabouts.
Sefa, who accused the clinic staff of being insensitive towards their plight, later lodged a complaint with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Dansoman.
The Public Relations Officer of DOVVSU, Chief Inspector, Irene Oppong, indicated that before the victim’s aunty left to buy the bananas, there was another woman on one of the beds in the room where Lizzy and her baby laid.

The alleged thief surrounded by some male students of the Mensah Sabah Hall
The police have launched a manhunt for four students of the University of Ghana who are alleged to be involved in the molestation of one Amina Haruna, suspected to be a serial thief, at the Legon Campus.
They are Edward Tutor, Alexander Aryee, Benedicta Boamah Brohim and Jason Boamah Amponsah, who are among some thirty-six names handed over to the police by the school’s authority for screening.
The four students who featured prominently in the indecency, as captured on video, failed to appear before the police.
Although end-of-semester examinations are in session, the four have failed to sit for the papers, giving indication they may have absconded.
The Acting Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur, has said that contrary to media reports that the four had absconded from police custody, the four never appeared for interrogation.
He stressed that the police would do everything possible within its mandate to ensure that the four did not elude the law.
Amina Haruna, a petty trader on the Legon Campus of the University of Ghana, was allegedly arrested on Thursday March 31, 2011, by a number of male students of the Mensah Sarbah Hall who brutalized her until she was rendered stark naked.
Her dress, pant and brassiere were shredded as some students inserted their fingers and phones into her vagina despite her pleas for leniency.
Amina said the humiliation and the dehumanizing treatment meted out to her caused her to bleed and lose her suitor.
The Legon Police told DAILY GUIDE earlier that Amina was arrested twice by the students and was once arraigned but jumped bail when the court granted her bail.
A warrant was then issued for her arrest but the police were unsuccessful until the unfortunate incident.
The Legon Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Frank Anning, said that while the students faced the court for their crime, Anima would also be arraigned to face charges for her own crime, stressing the law had no place for both offenders and those who took the law into their own hands. He also warned the public against indignant and instant justice.
Meanwhile, nine of the students- Wiredu Attah, Tornu Mark Dickson, Morris Awuregya, Nana Osei Asiamah, Gideon Agyei Ayiridaga, Aboyadana Amobilla, Afeatse Godfred, Evans Addai Boateng and Obed Banini- were arraigned and charged with indecent assault.
They however pleaded not guilty and were granted to a GH¢9000 bail. They are to reappear on Monday May 30, 2011.

Ebenezer Obeng narrating his ordeal to the press
ABOUT a week after giving Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Mayor of Accra, an ultimatum to quit his position, following what they described as his inability to deliver, traders in Accra are threatening to go to court.
The traders, who are members of the Market Women Association of Ghana (MAWAG) in the Greater Accra region, are lacing their boots to send the AMA Boss to court for the alleged demise of one of their colleagues who was recently brutalized by some city guards. They claimed the victim could not go to the hospital due to financial constraints.
According to the group, the Mayor, since his assumption into office, had taken the law into his hands, frustrating the lives of traders and maltreating them.
The group said such attacks impinged on the fundamental human rights of traders.
The anti-hawking stance of the AMA, according to the traders, had taken a different dimension.
“The city guards, who had been deployed to ensure that hawkers respected the directive, resorted to making amorous deals with the female traders. The female victims, who could not pay the bribes they demanded, have ended up being allegedly impregnated by the city guards.
“The Mayor must quit his post and give way for a more productive and efficient person,” said Fredrick Opoku, Media Relations Officer of MAWAG, at a press briefing in Accra yesterday.
The group claimed that Mr. Vanderpuije had failed and lost focus, particularly with regards to his promise before assuming office, to rid the city of filth.
In the past, it was possible to sell and save some money but presently, it is a different story.
Mr. Opoku described the activity as “grossly inhuman” as it led to the displacement of over 15,000 hawkers.
He therefore questioned why the assembly was only interested in chasing the hawkers out of the streets without finding any alternative business and market centres for them.
Charity Gyimah, a trader, told this paper that the claims by the assembly that it had provided spaces for hawkers within the various markets in the metropolis were sheer lies, explaining that the owners of the empty stalls demanded GH¢2,000 from the hawkers when they approached them.
“We are going to demonstrate till the Mayor steps aside because he is not credible and we cannot contain him anymore,” said Charity Gyimah.
Ebenezer Obeng, a hawker who was recently reported by the media to have had his ear chopped off by an AMA worker, was also present at the press conference and narrated his ordeal to the media.
He explained that the case was still in the hands of the police.
However, Mercy Nee Djan, President of the Greater Accra Market Association, in reaction to the demands of the association, maintained that there was no traders association called MAWAG.
She stressed that Opoku was only trying to use the name and his followers to champion his own cause.

Ghana Armed Forces
After three years, soldiers who forced a couple loitering around the Osu Castle to have sex at gunpoint have been found guilty.
The incident, which took place in 2008, became public after a widely circulated video of the incident caught the attention of the general public and human right activities who called for an investigation into the incident.
After weeks of investigations into the shameful incident, Joy News confirmed that the soldiers have been found guilty and have been sanctioned accordingly.
The Public Relations Officer of the Military High Command, Col. Mbawuni Atintande told Joy News Tuesday that, “these two Naval personnel have been identified… investigations went on and then as per our regulations, this is a very reprehensible act, we know that its an offence and we have to do something about it.”
Col. Atintande further disclosed that after identifying the officers involved, “they have been charged and tried.”
He however failed to reveal the type of punishment meted out to the officers but said, “Certainly they have been punished because of the act that they have done which we, the Armed Forces, think that it is reprehensible.”
He remarked that the issue must be dealt with clearly such that others would not repeat the same act.

Fatal Accident
SIX PEOPLE perished in a fatal accident at Aburasa near Komenda in the Komenda Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality in the Central Region yesterday when a Toyota Hiace with registration Number GN 2842 Z, carrying passengers from Accra to Takoradi, collided with an articulated truck with registration number GE 2230-10.
The vehicle was carrying cement from Takoradi, heading towards Cape Coast.
The dead were three females and three males. Four of the victims who were in very critical condition were sent to the Central Regional Hospital at Cape Coast. The accident occurred around 5:45pm.
According to an eyewitness, the Toyota Hiace was trying to overtake another car when it collided head-on with the truck and caught fire.
The fire service reported around 6:30pm to quench the fire.
At the time of filing the report at about 7pm, the police were not at the scene yet, even though they had earlier on been called as the bodies were lying idle. Residents of the area had to cover the accident victims with cloths.
The residents also had to direct traffic because the accident created a traffic jam.

BUSTED! Akwasi Kumah
AFTER THE discovery of the headless body of the 12-year-old boy who was beheaded for sakawa by Sumaila Yahaya, two persons have been arrested by the Kintampo police in connection with the murder.
The two men, Akwasi Kumah alias Mon Amie and Yaw Fosu, both unemployed, were arrested at Bompa, in the Atebubu-Amantin District where the decomposing headless body, identified as that of Kwame Amoah’s, was found.
Sumaila Yahaya, the prime suspect, told the police that the two helped him to kill the boy and beheaded him for ritual purposes in order to become rich overnight.
According to Yahaya, the three conspired to commit the crime in order to make juju money. All three suspects are in police custody at Kintampo while investigation continues.
In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, the Mallam who caused the arrest of the suspect, 45-year-old Musa Bamba, said he was in his house on that fateful day when the suspect came with a bag and told him that he wanted help.
He said as usual, he entered his room with the boy and asked him what he wanted.
According to Mallam Bamba, Sumaila Yahaya told him that he had brought him what people used to make money.
He said he asked him to open the bag for him to see what was in and when he opened the bag, he saw the severed head of a small boy.
Mallam Bamba told the Yahaya to wait for him while he went outside to call his master since he was not the one who performed such duties.
When Mallam Bamba went out, he closed the door, leaving the man inside while he ran to call the police who rushed there to arrest him.
Mallam Bamba told DAILY GUIDE that since he started his job as a spiritualist, he had never seen such a horrific incident. He appealed to the youth to work for money through genuine ways rather than getting themselves involved in Sakawa or any dubious means.
He said that as a man of God endowed with spiritual powers, God would punish him if he encouraged ritual murder. He appealed to his fellow Mallams to rid society off such miscreants.

Politicians have been urged to give the security agencies the freedom to perform their statutory roles devoid of political interference.
The Upper East Regional Police Commander, assistant Commissioner of Police Bright Oduro, made the appeal during the 11th National Constitutional Week organised by the Upper East Regional Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Bolgatanga.
He said that political interference constituted a major stumbling block to the dispensation of democracy in Ghana and stated that almost on a daily basis, security agencies in the administration of justice receive calls interfering in their work.
“One of the biggest challenges confronting the Police and the investigative apparatus of the service is undue interference from all manner of persons especially from politicians who may want to dictate the affairs of an investigation to suit their own interests”, he said.
Mr Oduro cautioned security agencies to a exhibit high sense of professionalism in the execution of their duties and added that, “as Security agencies we must respect and protect the citizens’ right to life.”
Mr Peter Mensah, the Upper East Regional Director of NCCE, said the purpose of the Constitutional week was to draw the attention of the public to the significance of the constitution.
He said Ghana had chalked a lot of successes since the adoption of the constitution and this had made it gain recognition at the international level but there was still more to be done.
The security agencies who attended the constitutional week forum were drawn from the Police, Custom Excise and Preventive Services, Immigration Service and Fire Service.

The Chairman Nana Otutu Kono seated before the factions
THE CHIEF of Adukrom in the Akwapim North district, Nana Otutu Kono has told the Chiefs of Dawu and Abiriw to let the resurrection power of Jesus Christ unite them.
He further admonished them to work collectively at sustaining peace among their people and also in Okere and Akwapim as a whole.
The Chairman of the Dawu and Abiriw land dispute settlement committee said this when the committee resumed sitting after the Easter break at the Akwapim North District Assembly Hall, Akropong.
He reiterated that they had come far in the mediation process thereof it was time to demonstrate peace through their actions adding that the death of Christ was supposed to bring peace and love to all mankind.
The Chairman, Nana Otutu Kono then invited 72-year-old Opanyin Kwabena Obuobi, one of the three witnesses to testify in favour of Dawu.
According to Opanyin Obuobi, both the Chiefs of Dawu and Abiriw had presented a request to the Chief of Awukugua, Nana Asare Brempong asking him to accompany them on separate occasions to clear up their boundary lines with Awukugua.
Opanyin Obuobi continued that his selection to be part of the Awukugua delegation was because he had been farming along the said boundary areas and was thus familiar with the terrain and had experience in agriculture extension work in the same area.
He also stated that the former Chief of Awukugua, Nana Ansah had said that he shared boundaries with Dawu and Abiriw because they were his children.
The Chief of Abiriw, Nana Kwame Henaku and Gyasehene Gyebi then took turns to cross examine Opanyin Obuobi; they asked him if he knew the towns which shared boundaries with Awukugua and how Dawu and Abiriw became children of Nana Ansah, the former Chief of Awukugua, noting that Dawu performed annual rituals to Awukugua but Abiriw did not.
Opanyin Obuobi replied that he could not say much about the right of being sons to Nana Ansah but knows that in every home there are some children who are rebellious to authority. He stressed that Dawu shared boundaries with Awukugua.
In a reply to Gyasehene Gyebi, he said he could not peddle falsehood in such a case and that he was telling the truth.
The second witness, Asokwahene Yaw also reiterated all that Opanyin Obuobi had said.

The missing day-old baby
The Dansoman Police have said the day-old baby girl who was reported missing from the Baanor Clinic at Latebiokorshie in Accra has been found.
The baby girl was reported to have been stolen a day after her delivery at the clinic on April 24, 2011 in the afternoon.
Three nurses and a security man at the facility were arrested and later granted self-recognizance bail while investigations into the matter continued.
However, in the early hours of yesterday, a baby girl, suspected to be the missing baby, was found behind the Baanor Clinic.
The Dansoman Divisional Commander, ACP Paul Awini, said a joint team including a detective from his outfit, parents of the baby and officials from the hospital were at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to examine the baby to ascertain whether or not she was the missing child reported about two weeks ago.
The father of the baby, Sefa Kissi, had told DAILY GUIDE that his wife, after delivery, was not well so had to be hospitalized to enable doctors to monitor her condition.
At about 11am the next morning, an auntie of hers visited her at the hospital while mother and daughter were fast asleep.
Elizabeth Kisi, after she was woken up by her auntie Ama, asked her to buy some bananas for her.
Aunt Ama returned with the bananas only to find an empty baby’s court while Lizzy was fast asleep.
When she was quizzed about the baby’s disappearance, she was unable to tell the baby’s whereabouts.
Sefa, who accused the clinic staff of being insensitive towards their plight, later lodged a complaint with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Dansoman.
The Public Relations Officer of DOVVSU, Chief Inspector, Irene Oppong, indicated that before the victim’s aunty left to buy the bananas, there was another woman on one of the beds in the room where Lizzy and her baby laid.

The alleged thief surrounded by some male students of the Mensah Sabah Hall
The police have launched a manhunt for four students of the University of Ghana who are alleged to be involved in the molestation of one Amina Haruna, suspected to be a serial thief, at the Legon Campus.
They are Edward Tutor, Alexander Aryee, Benedicta Boamah Brohim and Jason Boamah Amponsah, who are among some thirty-six names handed over to the police by the school’s authority for screening.
The four students who featured prominently in the indecency, as captured on video, failed to appear before the police.
Although end-of-semester examinations are in session, the four have failed to sit for the papers, giving indication they may have absconded.
The Acting Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur, has said that contrary to media reports that the four had absconded from police custody, the four never appeared for interrogation.
He stressed that the police would do everything possible within its mandate to ensure that the four did not elude the law.
Amina Haruna, a petty trader on the Legon Campus of the University of Ghana, was allegedly arrested on Thursday March 31, 2011, by a number of male students of the Mensah Sarbah Hall who brutalized her until she was rendered stark naked.
Her dress, pant and brassiere were shredded as some students inserted their fingers and phones into her vagina despite her pleas for leniency.
Amina said the humiliation and the dehumanizing treatment meted out to her caused her to bleed and lose her suitor.
The Legon Police told DAILY GUIDE earlier that Amina was arrested twice by the students and was once arraigned but jumped bail when the court granted her bail.
A warrant was then issued for her arrest but the police were unsuccessful until the unfortunate incident.
The Legon Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Frank Anning, said that while the students faced the court for their crime, Anima would also be arraigned to face charges for her own crime, stressing the law had no place for both offenders and those who took the law into their own hands. He also warned the public against indignant and instant justice.
Meanwhile, nine of the students- Wiredu Attah, Tornu Mark Dickson, Morris Awuregya, Nana Osei Asiamah, Gideon Agyei Ayiridaga, Aboyadana Amobilla, Afeatse Godfred, Evans Addai Boateng and Obed Banini- were arraigned and charged with indecent assault.
They however pleaded not guilty and were granted to a GH¢9000 bail. They are to reappear on Monday May 30, 2011.
