Rawlings Takes Part In AU Panel Of The WISE Meeting

THE District Head of Pandagi community in Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Adamu Usman Amchaga, has said that it is his sole responsibility to appoint and turban any village chief from Gborgbodo community, an area under his chiefdom. In a petition titled “Possible breakdown of law and order in Gborgbodo village of Abaji district,” which was copied to the FCT minister, police commissioner, area commander, State Security Services, Abaji council chairman, Ona of Abaji and divisional police officer, the traditional stated that Gborgbodo village has been under the control of Pandagi for the past 100 years

Ghana’s former President and African Union High Representative for Somalia, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings left Accra Tuesday for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to take part in the 10th meeting of the AU Panel of the Wise.

The meeting, which takes place from May 12-13, will deliberate on ongoing conflict situations in Africa.

The Panel of the Wise is one of the pillars of the African Peace and Security Architecture whose mandate is to advise the Chairperson of the AU on matters related to conflict prevention and resolution.

The Panel convenes regular brainstorming meetings with the AU Commission, AU mediators, envoys, as well as various experts, to take stock of ongoing efforts, identify and learn lessons from AU’s experiences at large.

The discussions on Somalia would primarily focus on assisting President Rawlings and the African Union Mission on Somalia (AMISOM) in furthering the implementation of the Djibouti Peace Process for Somalia.

General Arnold Quainoo and Mr. Herbert Mensah accompanied President Rawlings.
