CDC’s ‘Negative Image’ Set for Change-Tubman

The “negative image” of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), will be altered, its new leader has said.

Cllr. Winston Tubman, the man who replaced international football icon George Weah as standard bearer of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), says he joined the party to remove its “negative image” ahead of the 2011 elections.

Speaking during a tour of CDC’s headquarters in Congo town Saturday, Cllr. Tubman stressed that he joined the party to erase the negative notion by some politicians that without George Weah, CDC cannot make a difference during the impending presidential election.

Cllr. Tubman, fresh from his primary victory in Kakata, described such a notion as false, and promised not to mislead or disappoint CDC’s former political leader, Ambassador George Weah, in their newly consummated political marriage.

The counselor told party supporters at their Congo Town office that crossing over to the CDC was not because he could do more than Weah could do, but that “joining the Congress for Democratic Change is to strengthen the party as well as remove the negative image that people have held about Weah and the party.”

He urged CDCeans to put aside their differences and join hands to ensure victory in the impending 2011 elections.

Meanwhile, CDC Secretary General Acarius Gray urged partisans to rise up to the cause of CDC, adding: “There will be no monkey work bamboo draw in the 2011 presidential election.”

With Cllr. Tubman now in the driver’s seat, Mr. Acarious Gray said, “CDC now has all necessary qualities and credentials that will ensure victory in the 2011 elections.”
