Ishmael Ashitey to sue President Mills if…

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Ishmael Ashitey has disclosed that he will drag President Mills to court (as an individual) if the allegations that his camp intends to use GHC 90 million for his campaign turn out to be true.

Mr. Ashitey says the position of the President mandates him to use state funds responsibly and not to use it for his selfish gains hence his decision to sue him if the story is true.

He said GHC90 million is enough to improve the living standards of the people in the country.

Speaking on Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM on Tuesday, Ishmael Ashitey said he believed there might be some truth in Herbert Mensah’s statement that the President has budgeted GHC 90 for his campaign.

The former Minister of Fisheries describes the internal conflicts in the NDC as worrying to the development of the country because it can divert government attention from moving the country forward.

Meanwhile, the Communications Director of the NDC in the Central Region, Allotey Jacobs has rubbished Herbert Mensah’s allegations calling them outrageous.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs described Herbert Mensah as a liar for making those statements saying the story is a calculated attempt by the Rawlingses headed by Mr. Mensah to tarnish the good image of President Mills.

He stated that President Mills is a gentleman who will not involve himself in vote buying.
