Hamisu and Umar, both of Masaka, Nasarawa State, were convicted for joint acts and theft, offences contrary to Sections 79 and 286 of the Penal Code.
Police prosecutor, Glory Iheanacho, informed the court that on May 7, Pastor Simeon Nwaogu of Jikwoyi Phase I Extension, Abuja, reported to the police that on the same date, the accused persons came to his house on a motorcycle without a registration number and stole his goat valued at N10,000.
The complainant stated in court that he had lost more than six goats between January 2010 and May this year, adding that one of his missing goats was recovered from the accused persons during police investigations.
The prosecutor told the court that the accused persons confessed to stealing the goat during police investigation.
When the charges were read to the accused persons, they pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency, while the prosecutor asked for summary trial.
Magistrate Christopher Oba sentenced each of the accused persons to three months imprisonment without fine options.
