Bayern Munich’s Thomas Kraft undergoing medical with Hertha Berlin

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Thomas Kraft is in Berlin undergoing a medical with newly-promoted Hertha on Monday, according to reports from BZ.

The 22-year-old is understood to be close to agreeing a two-year deal with Markus Babbel’s side who will rejoin the Bundesliga next season after finishing top of Germany’s second tier.

Kraft’s imminent departure from the Allianz Arena is the biggest sign yet that Schalke keeper Manuel Neuer will join the Bavarian powerhouse in the summer.

2011 began well for Kraft with former coach Louis van Gaal giving the youngster a chance in the first-team. However, despite an impressive start, a number of high-profile blunders saw the keeper demoted to the bench with Hans-Jorg Butt stepping in for the remainder of the season.

Bayern’s general manager Christian Nerlinger recently told German media: “Thomas Kraft understandably wants to be No. 1 but we cannot guarantee this.”

If Kraft joins Hertha, he will become the club’s second signing in a fortnight with capital club announcing that Tunay Torun will join in the summer from Hamburg.
