Doyle: Will have a crucial role to play in Wolves’ survival bid
Wolves have welcomed news that Kevin Doyle has been cleared to figure in their final two fixtures.
Mick McCarthy’s men clawed their way out of the Premier League drop zone on Sunday with a 3-1 derby victory over arch-rivals West Brom, but know they still have work to do if they are to preserve their top-flight status.
Steven Fletcher proved to be the hero against the Baggies, as he bagged a brace, but Doyle is widely regarded as Wolves’ attacking talisman.
With that in mind, it came as a major blow when he sustained a knee injury while away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland in March.
It appeared at one stage as though his season could be over, but he has battled back to put himself in contention for a thrilling climax to the campaign.
McCarthy will now be able to call on the 27-year-old’s services for crucial clashes against Sunderland and Blackburn.
