‘Ryan Giggs defies logic’ – Michael Owen praises Manchester United team-mate after Chelsea victory

Michael Owen showered praise on Manchester United team-mate Ryan Giggs as a host of Sir Alex Ferguson‘s players took to their Twitter accounts after all but sealing the Premier League title with victory over Chelsea.

Giggs was instrumental in United’s success, getting involved in the build up to Javier Hernandez’s early opener and then crossing for Nemanja Vidic to head home, crushing the Blues’ title aspirations.

Not named amongst the substitutes on the day, Owen kept his Twitter followers up to speed with his views on the fixture, and in particular the performance of 37-year-old Giggs.

“How on earth can you be the best winger for years then evolve your game to become the best central midfielder around? Giggs defies logic,” he posted.

Not stopping at praise for the winger turned-central midfielder, the former England striker also lauded a glut of team-mates, including a tireless display by South Korean Ji-Sung Park.

Owen tweeted: “Where does Park get his energy from? How good are the Vidic/Ferdinand combination? Van Der Sar total class. The list goes on.

“What a performance in such a big game. 2-1 didn’t do it justice. Blitzed them from the first whistle. Nearly over the line now,” added the 31-year-old.

Other United players took to their accounts to revel in the joy of beating the current champions, with Wayne Rooney adding: “What a result. Bounced back after last week. Title no.19 is a little bit closer. Think I’ll have a glass of wine or two tonight. What a feeling.”

England team-mate and four-time Premier League winner Rio Ferdinand was equally thrilled with the occasion, tweeting: “Thanks for the support tweeps, Old Trafford was rocking! Great team performance!”
