Hilal players had to run for shelter when violence broke out at the Rades Stadium near Tunis, forcing their game against Club Africain to be abandoned
Caf will meet next week to deliberate on the violence forced the abandonment of the Champions League game between Club Africain and Al Hilal on Saturday.
Tunisia’s Africain were a few minutes away from going out of the competition when fans invaded the pitch.
There was further violence in the stands and the Sudanese visitors were forced to run for shelter.
The match was tied at 1-1 but Hilal’s 1-0 win from the first leg gave them a 2-1 aggregate lead.
Caf says its disciplinary committee will hold an emergency meeting prior to next week’s Interclubs official draw scheduled on 15 May to examine the referee’s report on the incident.
Trouble flared a few minutes before the end of the match and there are unconfirmed reports that the match officials were attacked.
League matches in Tunisia are being played without fans but an exception had been made for continental games.
It is not known what Caf’s response will be but it is likely that Hilal will go through and that Club Africain will be punished.
A previous Champions League game featuring the Tunisian side against Egyptian team Zamalek was marred by violence and Club Africain were fined by Caf.
The second leg of that tie was abandoned after fans invaded the pitch in Cairo, prompting further action by Caf.
Tunisian football has been in turmoil since the political revolution in the country earlier this year with the league being halted and re-started several times.
In recent days there have been renewed protests in some parts of the country and the interim government has imposed an overnight curfew in and around the capital.
