Milan got the point they needed to clinch their first Serie A title since 2004 with a 0-0 draw at Roma. Boateng becomes the third Ghanaian to win the title after Stehpen Appiah with Juventus and Sulley Muntari with Inter Milan.
The hosts dominated the opening half but the Rossoneri were the better team after the re-start and had several chances, including a 46th-minute strike from Robinho that hit the post.
The result at the Stadio Olimpico left Milan nine points clear of city rivals Internazionale, who host Fiorentina on Sunday, with two rounds of games remaining. Milan have a better head-to-head record in their games against Inter this season, which means the Rossoneri would end in first place if the two sides were to finish level on points.
Inter have won the last five scudettos and the city rivals are now tied on 18 titles each. Juventus have won a record 27.
After the final whistle, Milan began a champagne celebration on the pitch and threw the manager, Massimiliano Allegri, up into the air.
Boateng’s career fortunes changed for the better when he opted to play for Ghana after Germany sacked him from their junior national team.
He was with English relegated side Portsmouth when he played for the Black Stars at the 2010 World Cup which showed the world his true potential.
He signed for Milan after the World Cup and after playing for relegation threatened sides with no chances of winning a title, Boateng has now won the Scudetto.
