Arsene Wenger denies Andrey Arshavin is set for Arsenal exit

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has denied reports that the club are looking to sell Andrey Arshavin in the summer.

The Russian international has endured a mixed season, even admitting himself that he has struggled for confidence, although he has contributed 10 goals in all competitions and 11 assists in Premier League games alone this term, confirming that it hasn’t been all bad by any means.

Wenger is reportedly set for a summer clear-out after what looks almost certain to be another trophy-less season, but has suggested that the 29-year-old will not be on his list.

“You know who the player is who was involved in most of the Premier League games this season? Arshavin,” said Wenger in an article in The Mirror.

“He has played as much as everyone else. I will talk to all the players at the end of the season, I don’t want to make out any individual cases.”

Arshavin signed for Arsenal in a big money move in the 2009 January transfer window and has been linked in the media with a return to his former club Zenit St. Petersburg, while the Italian giants Juventus are also reportedly interested.

Arshavin has started 23 times for the Gunners in the Premier League this season, and also come on 11 times as a substitute.

Since joining Arsenal he has made 103 appearances in all competitions (80 starts), scoring 28 goals.
