Ghana youth star Wakaso Mubarak has been denied a chance to play in the Europa League final despite Villarreal’s a 3-2 win over Portuguese giant FC Porto on Thursday night.
Porto were the overwhelming favourite to progress after their 5-1 first leg win at home and despite the3-2 defeat, they advance to the final to set-up an all Portuguese Europa League final against foes Braga on 18 May in Dublin.
It was end of a fairly tale story from Ghanaian who has enjoyed an amazing time with the Spanish side after he joined them during the transfer window.
He came on in the 57th minutes but could not help sway the tie in their favour.
Another Ghanaian, Hans Adu Sarpei also failed to progress to the final of the Uefa Champions League following Schalke’s 6-1 aggregrate defeat to English powerhouse Manchester United on Wednesday, ending Ghana’s hope of a European club final this season.
