Birmingham qualified for the competition after the League Cup final win over Arsenal, but doubts had emerged about getting the license due to question marks over the club’s finances.
However, Birmingham’s acting chairman Peter Pannu has now confirmed the club has received the UEFA license, allowing the team to participate in European football next season.
“This means we can all focus on what are really exciting times for the club,” Pannu told the club’s official website.
“We have three important Premier League games remaining and we can take this good news into them – starting at Newcastle on Saturday.
“Then we can all look forward to competing in the Europa League alongside the continent’s finest clubs.
“Being granted the license – which we were always confident of achieving – will put to rest once and for all some of the scare mongering that has surrounded the club.”
