Hon. Michael Teye Nyaunu said he does not hate President Mills but believes that he (President Mills) lacks the ability to lead the ruling party and by extension the country.
Speaking in an interview with Nhyira Fm, a Kumasi-based radio station, Hon Nyaunu stated “how can I hate somebody when indeed I do not have the capacity to create human beings”.
He stressed that he has been consistent in his criticisms against President Mills because he does not have what it takes to lead.
Hon Nyaunu indicated that he decided to join forces with the campaign team of the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings because he was convinced of her leadership abilities.
He pointed out that Nana Konadu, over the years, has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubts that she has the temperaments to provide true and sound leadership for the NDC in particular and the country as a whole.
Hon Nyaunu, who has been appointed campaign manager of Konadu for President 2012, said President was a bad driver who is driving a very good car and therefore needs to be changed.
“I decided to join hands with our former First Lady because I have realized that President Mills is a bad driver, who is driving a very good vehicle and that if we do not change him, we will run into a ditch,” he insisted.
The campaign chairman noted that President was running the affairs of the country as if he did not rise to power on the ideals of the NDC, which are probity and accountability.
He noted that President Mills has failed to appoint competent persons into his government as if there are no such persons in the NDC, stressing that the slow pace of progress was as a result of the development.
Hon Nyaunu could not fathom why the President Mills-led administration, since the assumption of office over two years ago, had failed to prosecute a single member of the erstwhile Kufuor administration over corruption issues.
He indicated that the government was shielding the corrupt practices of the previous administration, hence their ill-commitment towards their prosecution in court.
“If a government under the leadership of a learned professor of law is always losing cases in court then it tells you the magnitude of the incompetence of the government,” Hon Nyaunu stated.
He said he was confident that Nana Konadu will take back the NDC to where it belongs and therefore charged the party’s delegates to give her a resounding victory in the upcoming polls.
