The actor – who was detained for domestic abuse, disturbing the peace and public intoxication after allegedly pushing wife Alice Kim on April 16 in New Orleans – will not face any further legal action as the charges have now been dropped.
Cage’s attorney Harry Rosenberg told People: “The New Orleans District Attorney has confirmed that no charges of any kind will be pursued against him. After their investigation, the DAs refused all charges against Nick and the matter has been closed.
“We are pleased that the process led to the correct result, despite inaccurate media reports, and that Nick has been cleared and all charges have been dropped.”
Cage, 47, was arrested after arguing with wife Alice in the early hours of April 16 after he became confused as to which house he was renting in the French Quarter of the city.
Local barman Peter Bennett – who lives near the properties – said: “Apparently he had mistaken the house of my neighbours for the other house up the block that he is actually renting. His wife was trying to persuade him from disturbing the elderly couple who do in fact live in that house.
“He was running around and screaming in the street.”
According to reports, Cage was “heavily intoxicated” at the time of the incident and he was taken into custody after he refused to get out of a taxi when asked to by the officer, who concerned onlookers had alerted.
