NDC Flagbearer Race Hots Up….Mills Names His Campaign Team

“The campaign has begun and I know that come July 9th, we’ll start jubilating…but we’ll not jubilate for long because that is not what the whole thing is about; it’s about 2012! And so long as God is on our side we are going to win. Thank You.” Those were the words of President Mills as he officially kicked-start his campaign for the flagbearer position of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dressed resplendently in a white long-sleeved designer shirt with a tiny but tidy embroidery done in the colours of the NDC on his breast-pocket, President Mills, stated confidently that he will win the party’s presidential primaries by a landslide victory.

Addressing NDC supporters and faithfuls on Thursday, May 5 at his campaign headquarters after picking nomination forms to contest the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries, President Mills declared that victory is going to be his in the presidential primaries slated for July 8-10.

“Today I have pick nomination forms to contest for the position of the flagbearer of the NDC. I am not here today to give my credentials and tell you what I will do when elected. I am already working and you know what I am capable of doing. You need not worry because I am going to win by a landslide, victory is going to be mine in the primaries and victory is going to be ours in 2012,” he declared.

He assured that even though he has to take some time from executing his Better Ghana Agenda to campaign for the primaries, he will not lose focus of the Better Ghana Agenda.

According to him, the Better Ghana Agenda is the mandate the people of Ghana has given the NDC and the least they can do is to work assiduously towards achieving that.

“Even though I am in the process of executing the better Ghana agenda, I have to spend time campaigning for our primaries, however I will like to assure you that I will not lose focus of our better Ghana agenda – this is the mandate that the people of Ghana has given us and the least that we can do is to work assiduously towards its achievement,” he added.

He pledged not to mud-sling nor trade insults with anyone during his campaign, and also promised not to show disrespect to anybody.

“This solemn promise that I am making to you and to the people of Ghana is that I will not indulge in mud-slinging. I will not insult anybody, engage in any fabrication or show disrespect to anybody. According to our custom, you do not insult someone who is older than you are, you show respect to your elders and I will always strive on the truth even if it will not appear palatable,” President Mills.

To him, the NDC presidential primaries “is not about who can hurl insults the fastest” but about the abilities of a candidate who can help raise the standard of living of Ghanaians, lift up people from poverty and also be able to put a decent meal on their tables.
