Rawlingses are living in Wonderland – Allotey Jacobs

The Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, Allotey Jacobs, says the Rawlingses must be living in ‘Wonderland’ if they think Nana Konadu will win at the upcoming National Delegates Congress.

Allotey Jacobs was reacting to statements former President Rawlings made at the launch of the Nana Konadu’s Presidential campaign in Accra on Wednesday.

Former President Rawlings said the NDC started losing the 2012 elections from the very first week President Mills was sworn into power adding that the party lost the 2012 elections eight months ago.

He also said the NDC is like a solid bus but the driver (President Mills) needed to be changed because he and his team were so intoxicated that they had lost touch with reality.

The former president also accused President Mills and his team of vote buying through the disbursement of money, contracts and positions and said that even if President Mills wins the July Congress he would lose the national elections.

But Allotey Jacobs said the insults and name calling from the Rawlingses were signs of indiscipline and disrespect from leadership, which was an indictment on the party.  

He said Mr Rawlings’ claim that some research showed that Nana Konadu would beat President John Evans Ata Mills by 76 per cent of votes at the Congress was bogus and would not hold.

“The more the Rawlingses put out false claims and attack President Mills, the more he wins sympathy votes for the July congress,” he said.

He noted that members of the NDC are discerning people who will not waste their votes on a “selfish leader”.

According to him, Nana Konadu’s decision to contest President Mills was also an act of indiscipline.

Meanwhile NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and National Organiser Yaw Boateng Gyan have categorically denied that the party postponed the National Delegates Congress to favour President Mills.

Yaw Boateng Gyan said the Rawlingses’ informants have been feeding them with false information and that was why they could also mount platforms and spread untruths against party executives.

He urged Rawlings to be wary of his dishonest informants because their lies would make him (Rawlings) lose his glory.
