When it mattered most, following calls on her to try her luck at the flagbearer race of the National Democratic Congress as President, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings’s sweet heart, former President Jerry John Rawlings, failed to accompany her yesterday to the National Democratic Congress to pick up her nominations forms.

Rather, enthusiastic supporters who were mainly the youth besieged the premises of NDC headquarters to give moral support. When The Enquirer attempted the whereabouts of the former President and why he did not make it to see his wife pick up the nomination form, a member of the campaign team, Sidi Abubakar, said the campaign team has a comprehensive programme and that Mr. Rawlings was playing other roles in preparation for the campaign launch today at eh conference center.

In his opinion, the former president is a crowd puller, suggesting that his presence could have made crowd control too difficult at the party’s headquarters.

Surprisingly, the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Mr. Teye Nyaunu, was the right hand man who shepherded the former first lady to pick up her form.

The former first lady was ably accompanied by two of her daughters, Amina and Yaa Asantewaa, and other officials of the 31st December Women’s Movement.

Football icon and celebrated sports administrator, Mr. Herbert Mensah, took many by storm as he proudly prided himself on being the photographer for Mrs. Rawlings by standing at various angles to take pictures of events.
