A new milling company which will be the only one in Chingola District will soon be established by a local business firm at a cost of about K10 billion.
Muss Milling Company will be opened soon by Kazenene Investments as preparations have reached an advanced stage.
Company director Chilufya Kazenene said at the weekend that the milling plant which would cost about K9.4 billion would concentrate on the markets on the Copperbelt, North-Western, Northern, Luapula and Central provinces.
He said in an interview in Chingola that the plant would be located on the Chingola-Kitwe highway near Zalawi Transport offices.
The plant, which is expected to create more than 250 jobs once in operation, would also have a filling station.
He said the construction of the 120-tonnes-per-shift milling plant which was being undertaken by Buhler of Sweden would take almost a year to be fully operational.
He said one of his companies LM Engineering would be working together with Buhler to ensure the plant got commissioned by mid next year.
Mr Kazenene said a consultant from Norway was already in the country to work with a local group of consultants.
“Chingola has not had a Milling plant for a long time after the only milling company the town had, Lulamba milling, went under,” he said.
He said the project was in response to the calls for the local investors to participate in improving the economy of the country.
Mr Kazenene is the proprietor of Jacaranda Ranch, Blue Hygiene School and Jimbe Minerals in Mwinilunga.
