Warrington dominate Exiles picks

Super League leaders Warrington have four players in the 18-man Exiles squad for the inaugural International Origin match against England at Headingley.

The Warrington representatives for the 10 June match are Louis Anderson, Matt King, Brett Hodgson and Joel Monaghan, while champions Wigan and Huddersfield each have three players chosen.

Australians and New Zealanders are evenly represented in the squad.

Thirteen of the players were selected from a poll of more than 10,000 fans.

Coach Brian McClennan, the former Leeds and New Zealand head coach, chose the other five, and will pick four more throughout May to take his final squad up to 22.

The match is to be an annual fixtures between the England national rugby league team and an Exiles side consisting of Australian and New Zealand players currently playing in Super League.

Among those selected by the fans is evergreen forward Steve Menzies, at 37 the oldest player in Super League, whose sparkling form for Catalans Dragons this year is recognised.

Among those picked by McClennan is Leeds prop Kylie Leuluai, who is set to line up alongside his cousin Thomas, the Wigan and New Zealand scrum-half.

McClennan said: “We have some terrific talent at our disposal with vast experience at the highest level. The fans have made some intelligent selections.”
