Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany is keen to get his name on the score sheet after so far failing to net this season.
Following rare weekend strikes from Nigel de Jong and Pablo Zablaleta in City’s 2-1 home win against West Ham, only Kompany and Jerome Boateng have now failed to hit the target this season.
The Belgian international has managed to score in his previous two seasons at Eastlands and is desperate to bag himself a goal before the current campaign comes to an end.
“We joke about this, but it is also a challenge,” the 25-year-old told the Manchester Evening News.
“I had better start working on it now – I can score as well so it can’t be that long before I get one.”
Roberto Mancini’s side are enjoying a relatively successful season as they are on the verge of securing a lucrative top four Champions Leage spot as well as having a visit to Wembley later this month to look forward to after reaching the FA Cup final for the first time in 30 years.
