Nana Addo Dances Lucky Mensah’s ‘Nkratuo’

THE flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, on Saturday, joined delegates from Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern region at the special delegates congress for the acclamation of the sitting Member of Parliament, Samuel Atta Akyea who went unopposed at Kyebi, the constituency capital.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who was the MP for the constituency for 12 years before stepping down in 2008, looked very cheerful and danced joyously to Lucky Mensah’s political song ‘Nkratuo’ which was specially requested for him by the delegates.

The delegates could not resist the music and joined Nana Akufo-Addo on the dancing floor.

Also at the special function were four ‘die hard’ National Democratic Congress(NDC) members from Akyem Asafo in the same constituency led by Kwadwo Amaning, who had ‘abandoned’ his party to join the NPP because of the way his party is ruling.

They were welcomed by the delegates when they were introduced.

Speaking at the function, Nana Akufo-Addo reiterated his call to party members to rally solidly behind all elected parliamentary candidates to ensure that the party gets the majority in parliament.

He said unity was what the party needed for total victory in 2012. “We have to move into the 2012 general elections as one family because all Ghanaians are calling on the NPP to come and save them,” he said.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, it was only the NPP which could provide hope for Ghanaians. “NPP is the only hope for our youth and would provide the leadership that will create jobs for them,” he said.

He said the NPP would resist any attempt to rig the elections and that he had seen that all party members were ready to die for the party. Mr. Atta Akyea thanked the delegates for the confidence they had reposed in him. He promised to work extra hard for the NPP to win massively in the constituency.

He therefore implored his colleagues who had been given the nod to stand on the party’s ticket to work extremely hard in their various constituencies to ensure that Nana Akufo-Addo won the 2012 ‘one touch’.

“What I have learnt in politics is that electioneering campaign is not about flamboyant rallies but it is about grassroots mobilisation and door-to-door interaction with the electorate.”

He asked the hierarchy of the party to avoid flamboyant rallies and move to villages and hamlets to convince the electorate to vote for the party.

“We cannot implement our policies to help Ghanaians if Nana Akufo-Addo does not win the presidency so we must all work hard so that Nana Akufo-Addo can move to the Jubilee House come January, 2013,” he indicated.
