Massimiliano Allegri’s side is eight points clear of second placed Inter at the top of the table with just three more rounds of matches left this campaign.
At one point Inter appeared to run its city rivals close but have slipped in recent weeks. However, club patron Moratti does not bear any grudge against Milan for doing better than his team this season.
“Well, whoever wins the championship always deserves it,” said Moratti, according to Soccerway.com. “It’s the team who has displayed the greatest level of consistency. Therefore the team who wins the championship is the one who deserves it.”
Inter came from behind to defeat Cesena 2-1 in the league at the weekend, with striker Giampaolo Pazzini scoring twice in injury time.
Reflecting on that dramatic win, Moratti enthused: “It was just a good win. It was an interesting match which we’ll all remember.
“It was exciting. The football may have been good or not, I don’t know. But either way it was great the way it turned out for us.”
Inter next league match is against Fiorentina at San Siro on Sunday afternoon.
