Edwin van der Sar calls on teammates & supporters to be at their best this week

Edwin van der Sar has admitted that the week ahead could be potentially decisive for Manchester United, and has called on his teammates and fans to be in top form for the games ahead.

The Red Devils recently fell to a defeat at the Emirates Stadium, as a lone goal from Aaron Ramsey was enough for Arsenal to take away all three points. And Chelsea’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur meant that Carlo Ancelotti’s men are only three points behind United ahead of the meeting between the two sides.

But first, the Old Trafford outfit have the task of seeing off Schalke in the second leg of the semifinals of the Champions League on Wednesday, after a 2-0 victory in the first meeting in Gelsenkirchen.

“It is a big week ahead, it is important for the players to recover and for the fans to be at their best on Wednesday and Sunday,” Van der Sar said, according to The Mirror.

“These are the games you want to be involved. This is what it is all about.

“We have had a period when we lost some games away from home, but hopefully this is going to be the end of it and we can move forward now and achieve our aims.”

Van der Sar is set to retire at the end of the season.
