Vatican — The virtues of the Pope John Paul II, who was proclaimed beatified this Sunday, were highlighted in St. Peter Square in Vatican in Italy.
Pope Benedict XVI acclaimed: “John Paul II is Beatified” during the a mass that was attended by almost three million pilgrims from different countries and about 80 heads of states and governments, among others.
Angola was represented by the Vice President of the Republic, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, accompanied by his wife, Maria Augusta dos Santos and the culture Minister, Rosa da Cruz e Silva.
John Paul II was born on 18 May 1920 and he died on 2 April 2005.
