With the launch of Big Brother AMPLIFIED only three and a bit days away, excited viewers in various countries are chewing the rag over just who the housemate from their country will be.
Namibia is no exception!
A couple of names are already being hotly debated in fan circles. One in particular!
While we’re not sure if the people being mentioned are correct, and while we don’t want to spoil the surprise for anyone, we can reveal that the number one suspect is – drum roll please! – none other than DJ Jossy Joss.
There has been a lot of speculation about the use of the word AMPLIFIED this season, with one or two fans wondering – out loud, of course – if it may have something to do with sound. Or maybe, just maybe, media celebrities.
And nothing is more synonymous with sound than radio, so keen observers may just be onto something.
As a long-running DJ at Radio Energy, Jossy Joss, who is now Manager of Marketing and Sales at the station, is well known to Namibians. African audiences may also remember him after he served as a BBA field presenter for Namibia in 2008, the year that Lucille Noabes took part.
Just by the by, Jossy Joss was spotted holding hands and canoodling with the lovely former BBA contestant at a Windhoek club on New Year’s Eve.
Speculation has it that Jossy Joss and Che Ulenga, a DJ on Fresh FM, were the top two candidates to make it through to the last round of the interviews, and that Jossy may well be Namibia’s next reality star.
Initial speculation centred on Che but now seems to have turned to Jossy Joss.
The debonair DJ’s Facebook profile has been peppered with expressions of extreme happiness of late, starting on April 14 when he wrote: “Eish … if it’s true then I am gonna dance the whole day… got a huge smile on my face.”
This was followed on April 15 with “I got game baby” and “life is giving me good surprises but I can handle it”.
On April 18, he wrote “So happy rite now and ova the moon” and “I am truly blessed”.
The Namibian established that the DJ is currently out of town – apparently attending a broadcasting workshop and is reportedly set to return to work next Thursday, but whether this is a ruse or not, remains to be seen.
Approached for comment, MultiChoice Namibia PR and Communications Officer, Claudia Blohm, said that not even she knew who would be entering the house and that she would find out on Sunday evening along with the rest of Africa.
“We can only announce who will be entering the house as they enter on live TV, because of the nature of live television where someone can fall ill or change their minds at any time.”
The Namibian contacted Jossy Joss on his cellphone and while the person who answered spoke perfect English at first, once asked if he was set to be Namibia’s BBA housemate, he quickly switched to broken Afrikaans and insisted that he was not Jossy Joss.
So there you have it folks! We may be wrong, or we may be right (we don’t know!), but as part of our bid to ‘tell it like it is’, there you go!
