Akufo-Addo’s May Day Message For Ghanaians

The New Patriotic Party and I wish to, on this day set aside to celebrate workers worldwide, extend our gratitude to all Ghanaian workers, both in the formal and informal sectors, for their enduring hard work and patriotic contribution towards Ghana’s development over the years.

It was through your hard work, under a competent and visionary leadership, that Ghana managed to achieve the highest sustained growth in Africa’s non-oil economies during the first decade of the 21st century, notably between 2001-2008.

The NPP, by our record and future programmes, is committed to a future of economic expansion and transformation that will guarantee decent jobs and decent pay.

One of the greatest challenges facing the Ghanaian today has to do with jobs. The concerns of the labour community in Ghana, of good jobs, good pay, and strong health and safety regulations must engage a greater attention of society.

Our message to the anxious Ghanaian workforce is this: stay faithful to the Ghanaian enterprise. There is a brighter future ahead of you. The NPP is resolute in its commitment to building a new society of opportunities for the Ghanaian people. A new society which will provide good education, good skills, good jobs and good pay. This is the programme that the next NPP government is committed to delivering for the Ghanaian labour community.
