On-loan defender Kyle Walker could opt to stay with Aston Villa at the end of the season

Defender Kyle Walker has revealed he would like to stay at Aston Villa next season having been on loan from Tottenham Hotspur and impressing the coaching staff at Villa Park since he joined the club in January.

With his spell at Villa coming to an end, Walker has hinted that if he cannot land a place in Harry Redknapp’s line-up, he would like to play for Villa again.

He told Sky Sports: “My main thing is just to play football. It’s the game I love.

“I get out of bed every morning and play football. That’s all I really want to be doing. If I can do it at Spurs, then perfect.

“If not, we will see what happens.

“Would Villa be a nice option again? Villa is perfect but you never know. Football is weird.”

With Gerard Houllier making a recovery from an illness due to which he had to be admitted in hospital on April 20, caretaker boss Gary McAllister had to take the helm for the draw against Stoke City and the 2-1 defeat against West Brom.

Walker hailed the job McAllister has done with the team which should see them safe from the drop zone at the end of the season.

“Macca has done brilliant to be fair,” he added.

“He does take training a lot and the lads have a good understanding with him.

“It’s been strange (without Houllier) but good as well.”
