About 431 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Delegates drawn from the Tamale North Constituency in the Northern Region, have threatened to boycott the elections if party executives in the constituency refuse to pay them the agreed Gh¢8 after they exercise their franchise.
According to some of the delegates who spoke to Peace FM correspondent, Kwabena Ntow of Filla FM, the party executives have decided to reduce the initially agreed Gh¢8 to Gh¢5 for no apparent reason, thus their threat to boycott the election.
On Thursday, April 28th, the NPP forwarded the transportation allowance of all delegates for its April 30th parliamentary elections to their Constituency accounts.
A statement by the party, signed by Esther Dzifa Ofori, National Treasurer, therefore advised all delegates to get in touch with their Constituency Chairmen or Treasurers for payment of their allowances.
“Any further inquiry should be directed to 0541467063,” the statement said.
It is, however, unclear if the disagreement between delegates of the NPP in Tamale North and party executives in the constituency has anything to do with that allowance.
