Everton manager David Moyes warns Liverpool off making a move for Leighton Baines

Everton manager David Moyes has dismissed any chance of Liverpool signing Leighton Baines this summer, saying he is not for sale.

England and Everton left-back Baines has been in outstanding form this season and has reportedly attracted the interest of Merseyside neighbours Liverpool, though Moyes says there is no chance of that transfer happening.

“I can’t see it. It’s not for me that one and I think Liverpool know that as well,” Moyes said in an article in The Sun.

“Nobody will leave the club unless I give it the go-ahead and that won’t change.

Moyes has seen Wayne Rooney and Joleon Lescott leave in mega-money moves during his tenure but is confident he will not be losing Baines.

“We have signed Leighton on a five-year deal. I don’t want to sell him and Everton don’t sell cheap.

“The chairman looks after the players and gives them what he can. So Leighton’s not for sale – and they know that as well.”
