The Court Presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor sentenced Kwaku Tawiah, who pleaded guilty to 24 months imprisonment on charges of threat of death and 12 months imprisonment for causing damage.
Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang said on January 18, last year the complainant, Mr Seth Appau, a driver, detected that 17 bags of his corn were stolen from his house and therefore, made a report to the police.
She said at about 0500 hours on January 19, 2010, Mr Appau was in bed when Tawiah, wielding a cutlass banged at his door and ordered him to come out of the room.
Chief Inspector Appiakorang said Tawiah threatened to kill Mr Appau because he had spread rumours that he stole the bags of corn.
She said the convict subsequently used the cutlass he was holding to damage the complainant’s trap door and absconded, but the police managed to arrest him later.
