Sumbe — A workshop called to analyse the implementation of the food and nutritional security strategy in central Kwanza Sul province is taking place Friday in Sumbe, Angop learned.
According to the coordinator of the local Food and Nutritional Protection Nucleus, Albino Tchicale, the event is intended to support the progressive implementation of the right to adequate food, through the promotion and execution of the food and nutritional security plan.
The event being presided over by the deputy governor for social and political affairs, Fernanda Cabral, is being attended by district administrators, provincial directors of non-governmental organisations and social partners.
The National Food and Nutritional Security Strategy is a multi-sector instrument drafted by experts from various ministries and approved by the Cabinet Council in March 2009 and the National Assembly in December the same year.
It is also intended to be a response to the commitments taken up by Angolan Government within the framework of the Millennium Development Goals, of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) whose priority is the fight against famine and poverty.
