The French website claims that at a recent FFF meeting the decision was made to change the criteria for players to be called up to the illustrious French youth centers. Unlike before, players will no longer solely be judged on their footballing qualities, but the FFF will also take their ethnic background into account before inviting a player to a training center.
Current France national team coach Laurent Blanc was reportedly one of the officials who attended the meeting at which the aforementioned decision was made.
“Several members of the technical direction of the FFF, Laurent Blanc being one of them, secretly agreed to install discriminatory criteria for the selection of players for the youth centers. Sources inside FFF have revealed that these instructions have been carried out by the famous Clairefontaine institute, among several other training centers,” a statement on Mediapart reads.
The latest accusations are yet another blow for the FFF’s image after the previous problems at the 2010 World Cup and the ongoing dispute about the players’ bonuses from the tournament in South Africa.
