West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan feels the odds are stacked against the club in their fight to avoid the drop.

Sitting at the foot of the table and two points from safety, the Hammers are in a precarious position as the season enters its climax and it seems the owners have already resigned themselves to relegation.

“We are facing the reality that 70-75 per cent we are likely to be in the Championship next year but there is still a 25-30% chance we won’t be,” he told the Daily Telegraph.

He also expressed his regret at the way his and his co-owner David Gold’s ownership of the club has turned out.

He said: “We didn’t come here to be relegated. We have fantastic supporters and I feel myself and David Gold have let them down.”

Speaking of being in the position whereby the Hammers may need a last-day victory to ensure safety, Sullivan was also uneasy about trusting some of his wantaway squad.

He said: “It means Avram might have a hard decision to make if we go into the last game of the season needing a win to stay up – do you trust the fate of the club to them or do you make the decision that you will not play those players?”
