Ferguson: Expecting more drama during the run-in
Sir Alex Ferguson does not believe the Premier League title race is a foregone conclusion stating there is still ‘drama’ ahead.
The Red Devils have taken command at the top due to a blistering run of form while rivals Arsenal have been found wanting.
Chelsea are finishing the campaign strongly and have moved into second spot, but a disastrous mid-season slump means Carlo Ancelotti’s side are the outside bet.
United still have Arsenal and Chelsea to come in their fixture list and United’s boss believes the games remain title deciders.
Ferguson has no qualms about dropping points between now and the summer as long as they enter their final game of the season against Blackpool with the title still in their own hands.
Drama
“There is still drama ahead,” explained Ferguson. “The teams at the top will drop points, including Chelsea.
“Two months ago everyone was looking at these two games as league deciders. They probably are now.
“But if we get to the last home game needing to win it to win the league, I would be happy with that.”
Ferguson is playing down talk that Arsenal and Chelsea will topple the league leaders in the coming weeks, stating United are in irresistible form of their own.
“The slant I seemed to be getting is that Arsenal and Chelsea are expecting to win these games and change the top of the league,” he continued.

“Why can’t we win these matches? Surely, given the form we are in, we can.
“It is not going to be any easier for Arsenal or Chelsea than it is for us. These are difficult games.”
After a slow start to the campaign Wayne Rooney has been in blistering form and the England international’s partnership with Javier Hernandez has caused problems for most.
Ferguson has been delighted with Rooney’s displays of late, insisting the pair can become a destructive force for the club for years to come.
He said “Wayne’s form has been fantastic. He and Javier have been a revelation in the last few weeks. It has given us all great hope.”
