Addressing the chiefs and people of Yendi Thursday April 28, President Mills renewed his pledge that his government will ensure that justice definitely prevails.
President Mills made a similar pledge to the people of Dagbon on Wednesday, stating that his government will do everything possible to ensure that the murderers of the late Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II are brought to book even if it means seeking outside help.
All 15 Abudu suspects standing trial in the latest attempt to find the killers of the late Dagbon overlord were acquited and discharged by a Fast Track High Court in Accra for lack of evidence.
The Government appealed against the ruling of the Accra High Court after some angry NDC supporters in Tamale, torched party offices in protest against the ruling. The Andanis have expressed disappointment at the ruling mainly because the Mills administration made it a major campaign promise to arrest and prosecute the killers of the late King.
President Mills insists the ruling will not discourage his government from pursuing and prosecuting the murderers of the late Dagbon King, and directed Attorney General to appeal, which he has done.
Speaking in Yendi, President Mills warned that the killers of the late Overlord of Dagbon Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani can run but cannot hide, assuring that justice would eventually catch up with them. “I want to say that those who committed the crime can run but cannot hide. Eventually we will catch up with them but I plead with all of you for patience,” he told the people of Dagbon.
