Kim Kardashian takes a fashion risk as she steps out in horizontal stripes

It’s a fashion rule widely debated in the industry that wearing horizontal stripes makes you look wider than you actually are.

And yesterday Kim Kardashian decided to take something of a sartorial risk as she stepped out in a black and white striped maxi dress.

But while the 30-year-old star’s outfit was flattering from the front, it was less than flattering from behind, with the racer back also displaying her nude coloured bra.

Kim paired the dress with a pair of black flip-flops, a Hermès Birkin bag and the obligatory huge sunglasses.

The reality TV star chose the outfit for a morning at the nail salon, where she chose an on-trend fluorescent pink colour for both her fingers and toes.

Despite experts having thought for years that horizontal stripes make you look wider than you are, a recent study by York University found that it was actually vertical stripes which were the most unflattering.

Meanwhile, Kim’s sister Khloe has spoken out about how difficult she finds it to be constantly compared to Kim and other sister Kourtney.

Khloe, who is constantly battling her weight, said: ‘They are 5-foot and 5-foot-2, so I look massive next to them.

‘Everyone expects me to be 9 feet tall and weigh 200 pounds when they meet me.’

Khloe admitted it was her mother Kris Jenner’s divorce from her late father Robert Kardashian that first sparked her weight gain.

She said: ‘My brother Rob and I were always heavy. They gave us food to keep us comforted. All we did was eat crap.

‘I had older women tell me, “You should really work out”. It really got to me.’
