Kinondoni Test Their Strength Against Temeke

As the Kili Taifa Cup draws closer, pre-tournament favourites Temeke and Kinondoni come head-to-head in a strength- testing match at Kinesi ground today. The Kili Taifa Cup, which brings together all regional teams, is planned to get underway on May 7 in six designated centres.

The matches pitting the two Dar es Salaam team are always explosive, but competitive, thus this is also expected to follow that tradition.Temeke, who are under the tutelage of Habibu Kondo, have already picked the final squad, which comprises four Premier League players.

They are: goalkeeper Jackson Chove (free), Zuber Ubwa, Sunday Juma (African Lyon) and Yahaya Tumbo (Young Africans).Temeke, who will be battling it out in the Mbeya centre together with Rukwa, Iringa, and hosts Mbeya, go into the pitch with a sense of superiority having won most of the games pitting the sides.

Kondo, the former African Lyon assistant coach, bragged that they had picked the best squad ever and were looking forward to posting a victory over their rivals.

“My players are in high spirits and ready for any eventuality. Kinondoni are a good team, we respect them, but we have what it takes to win today and the victory will boost our confidence ahead of the Kili Taifa Cup,” he said.

Not to be outdone, Kinondoni head coach Christopher Eliakimu said he was confident his team would carry the day.

“This is a big match as it will give us a clear picture of how competitive the tournament will be, but I’m confident that we’ll beat them,” Eliakimu said.
