Hughes: Another home win as Fulham saw off Bolton

Fulham boss Mark Hughes was pleased with how his side put Bolton to the sword with a 3-0 win at Craven Cottage.

Clint Demspey struck twice before Brede Hangeland headed home a third as the Cottagers moved up to ninth in the table.

And Hughes was pleased that his side showed a clinical edge.

“We have played well this season and the manner of the performance has been there. Sometimes we have played well and we have had occasions where we have not found the back of the net as emphatically as we did tonight,” he told Sky Sports.

“I thought it was a different test tonight, Bolton are a big strong side. They put the ball in different areas that you need to defend and it was different from the weekend at Wolves where we could get the ball down pass and create. Tonight we had to dig in and produce a performance and that is what we did.

“We have got ability in key areas and we can create problems, but tonight they could not live with us.”

Dempsey praise

Hughes was delighted with Dempsey’s display, saying: “Clint’s having a fantastic season, not just his goals, but his work-rate and the impact he is having.

“You always suspect if the ball drops to Clint then he can dispatch it, and that is what he did.”

Despite climbing into the top half of the table, Fulham have only won once away from home this season and Hughes still wants to put that record straight.

“We have had one three-point result and we want to address that, and it is about transferring the ability we show in home games to our away games,” he concluded.
