Ondjiva — The acting governor of the southern Cunene province, Cristino Mário Ndeitunga, highlighted on Monday in Namacunde district the importance of the border protocol to combat malaria signed by Angola and Namibia.
Cristino Mário Ndeitunga said so to Angop during the ceremony aimed at signing the between the Ministries of Health of both countries.
The official said that this agreement is an advantage to improve medical assistance to population of the province, and thus fight and eradicate the disease in the region.
The acting governor stressed that Cunene recorded ionsiderable reduction of cases of malaria in 2010.
The two countries are committed to implement a technical cooperation for malaria control in bordering regions, creating effective mechanisms for the control and elimination of the disease in northern Namibia and southern Angola.
