Dragan Stojkovic Rejects Arsenal Interest To Extend Contract At Nagoya Grampus Until 2013

Despite an alleged offer Arsenal, Dragan Stojkovic has decided to extend his contract at Nagoya Grampus until the end of the 2013 season, reports suggest.

Final negotiations are ongoing but the two parties have already found an agreement, according to Japanese network Sport Jochi.

The news is encouraging for Nagoya Grampus’ fans, who watched their team humbled 3-0 by Urawa Reds in the J-League’s second round on Sunday.

Stojkovic was at Grampus as a player from 1994 until 2001 and returned as a manager in 2008.

In the past season, the 46-year-old has led the club to their first J-League championship title.

An indisputable idol of the Grampus supporters, the former Yugoslavia international has also been pivotal in convincing some top players such as Marcus Tulio Tanaka to join the club.

Nagoya Grampus have so far clinched only one point from two games in this year’s J-League campaign, but are leading their AFC Champions League group after four rounds.
