25 April 2011 Namacunde — The Ministers of Health of Angola and Namibia, José Van-Dunem and Richard Kamwa, signed Monday in Namacunde, Cunene province, a border protocol to combat malaria. The two countries are committed to implement a technical cooperation for malaria control in bordering regions, creating effective mechanisms for the control and elimination of the disease in northern Namibia and southern Angola. The protocol provides home spraying campaigns, distribution of mosquito-nets with a a great coverage to protect the community and reduce potential transmission.

A farmer,Mr. Melake Gebrekristos, who is cultivating a plot of land in Dogali, is making positive contribution to the development drive in the area, according to reports.

Mr. Melake, who started by cultivating a small land plot, is now cultivating more than 50 hectares, and that he has effectively utilized the A’adaita and Yangus rivers through the construction of a 2-Km-long waterway and a reservoir fit for holding 160,000 cubic metres for the cultivation of taff, vegetables and date palms.

Currently, over 70 hectares are being cultivated by a number of farmers in Degoli.
